|SAN JOSE , Sept. 16 (Xinhua) -- Costa Rican President Luis Guillermo Solis held talks with visiting Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on bilateral relations here on Friday.
Solis said Costa Rica sees China as a great friend and partner, and has always developed its relations with the country from a strategic height.
The Costa Rican side thanked the Chinese side for its support and assistance in its development, and hopes China to continue to actively take part in the construction of infrastructure projects in Costa Rica, said Solis.
The president called on Costa Rica and China to implement their bilateral free trade agreement and translate the potential into tangible growth of bilateral trade.
He also called on the two countries to further deepen cooperation in the field of public security, referring to the inauguration of a Chinese-built and funded National Police Academy in the country's east-central province of Limon.
Hailing the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Panama, Solis said the development provides fresh opportunities for Costa Rica and other Central American countries.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Costa Rica.
Wang, for his part, said the two countries have witnessed close exchanges at all levels and vigorous cooperation in various fields.
Wang noted that Costa Rica was the first Central American country to establish diplomatic relations with China, adding that the bilateral relations have been playing an exemplary and leading role in promoting exchanges and cooperation between China and Central America countries as a whole.
Wang called on the two countries to strengthen political mutual trust and support each other on issues of their core interests and major concerns.
He called on the two sides to deepen cooperation in six fields, namely, infrastructure construction, trade, new energy, public security, people-to-people exchanges and regional affairs to better benefit the two peoples.
KIGALI, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) -- Rwanda's Prosecutor General Jean Bosco Mutangana Thursday called on his counterparts in the East African Community to bring Rwandan genocide suspects in their countries to justice.
He was speaking at the opening of the 6th annual general meeting of East African Association of Prosecutors in Rwandan capital Kigali.
Mutangana said Rwanda had issued indictments for several Rwandan genocide suspects. He asked the prosecutors to ensure the suspects are either brought to justice or extradited to Rwanda.
Ayub Mwenda, Tanzania's deputy prosecutor general, said his country is ready to bring any suspect Rwanda indicts and is found to be living there.
Rwanda has indicted about 600 genocide suspects said to be living in different countries in Africa, Europe, North America, and New Zealand, according to prosecution.
The 1994's Rwandan genocide left around one million people killed, mainly Tutsi and moderate Hutus.
